Dirk's First... Wait... Why Was He Here Again?

Yes... Why was he standing there, fist held out to the cold door, knuckles rasping against the hard material.

"What did I do to deserve...?" He asked himself, letting his hand fall back to his side as he waited for someone to answer the door. But, as his hand was falling, its fingers formed the chords that belonged to Blood Red Summer by Coheed and Cambria. But the moment passed, and his hand fell peacefully to its place.

Wait... What had he been doing? Why was he standing in front of this door? Did he have an appointment or something? Oh, he hoped he didn't... He didn't like the doctor's... Wait, did he have to get a shot? If he did, he wasn't going to stick around to find out...

And with that final thought, Dirk turned tail and trotted away.

'Go stand at the door, you freak,' Dirk stopped in his tracks. Those stupid voices were back...

'GO STAND AT THE DOOR.' The voice commanded, scaring Dirk into action.

And that's how Dirk came to stand - slightly confused - at the Lab's door, punching himself repeatedly in the head. It was a light punch, don't worry.

"I'm guessing it's another trainer..." Prof. Lorene muttered. Quickly,she ran to the door. "Hello! How may I help you? Here to get your first pokemon?"

In all honesty, Dirk was unsure of the answer to the Professor's question.

'Yes,' A voice prodded him.

"Um, yeah," Dirk repeated, slowly remembering enough of whatever plans he had made to come to the conclusion that he was setting out on a Pokemon Journey. "Yeah, that's it," Dirk rubbed his temple, thinking hard. He knew he had planned to get a certain Pokemon, but he couldn't remember which one.

'Nidoran Male' Yet another voice offered. Dirk liked this suggestion - he was indeed fond of the lil' buggers.

"Could I get a Nidoran for my starter?" Dirk asked, looking up at Professor Lorene hopefully.

"Alright. I'm sorry,but we only have males right now. Is that alright?" Probaly. Without saying anything else,she went towards a shelf and grabbed a pokeball,and a starter pack,handing it to Dirk.
